Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella recently highlighted the emergence of a continuous cognitive loop between humans and AI. While many view this purely as a technological shift, my angle starts somewhere smaller but far more profound.
AI is merely the enabler here. The true revolution is a fundamental shift in business culture.
The Shift to Flat Organizations
Consider Anthropic as a fascinating hook for where we are heading. They recently discarded traditional corporate hierarchy, getting rid of layered titles to give everyone the same fundamental designation as builders.
That is an early glimpse into the future. We are moving away from heavy, layered infrastructures. Soon, companies will be flat organizations of 10, or maybe 100, equal individuals whose primary role is interacting with AI to run the business.
Until now, the corporate moat was largely built around people who knew how to play the system. Success required technical qualifications combined with the ability to navigate complex political environments. That model is fading.
The Rise of the Cyborg Business
The new continuous loop between human and AI is creating what I call a Cyborg Business—a beautiful harmony of human and AI.
A cyborg business does not need people who are politically savvy in a corporate environment. It needs Beautiful Minds. It requires creative minds that can feed raw imagination, Chaos, and Anarchy into the loop and the system. The AI then takes that chaotic human input and turns it into a refined product, and the loop continues.
Preparing for the Future
For us grown-ups who are working in the current system, our immediate role is to create a good, pivotal environment. We need to help our current models pivot toward this robust future.
But looking ahead, our responsibility shifts. WE MUST PREPARE OUR KIDS to be creative and smart, equipping them to generate that necessary anarchy in the business environments of tomorrow.
